Hi, my name is Steve Bowman. I’m from Savannah, Ga, USA and have a second home in Piriapolis. In addition to this website, I publish and public relations blog, Coastal Uruguay.
Before I fill you in on our real estate Internet Marketing site, I’d like to share some of my experiences as a property owner here on the Coast.
After buying property in Uruguay, I learned something pretty important: the Real Estate industry here is totally unregulated….anyone can decide to be a realtor. Form a company (easy), fill out the transaction paperwork, pay the taxes and you’re in.
This creates a unique phenomenon. Compared with North America, the transaction process/paperwork is not nearly as well organized or as transparent. This lack of transparency lends itself to more monkey business than I’m accustomed to. Horrid rip offs are not common! This is an honest country for the most part. But the chances of having an undesirable outcome is more likely here as compared with the North America or Northern Europe.
I feel the answer is having someone on your side. To that end, I’ve assembled a group of associates I personally trust to take care of you and make sure things are right.
